Public API
Read what Origo members made public: posts with their sources, and profiles with career, certificates and publications. The API only reads. It needs no account and no key.
Endpoints
GET /api/public/posts/{id}A public post with its author, sources and topics. The id is the one in the post linkhttps://origo-app.de/p/{id}. Comments, challenges and counts are for members only.GET /api/public/users/{handle}A public profile: name, position, field, bio, links, career, certificates and publications. No posts, followers or counts. A former handle leads to the same profile.GET /api/public/statsThe counts shown on the start page, cached for five minutes.GET /api/healthAnswers{"ok":true}while the service runs.
Anything that is not public answers 404, whether it exists or not. Errors come as {"error":{"code":"…","message":"…"}}; the header X-Origo-Lang: de or en picks the language of the message.
Example

MCP server
Origo is also an MCP server (Streamable HTTP) with four read-only tools: search_posts, list_recent_posts, get_post and get_profile.
https://origo-app.de/mcpIn a member’s name: the member adds this address as a connector in their assistant, signs in on Origo and allows access (OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, dynamic client registration). The tools then read what that member may see. Scopeposts:read; nothing can be posted or changed. Members end connections in their settings.https://origo-app.de/mcp/publicWithout an account: public posts and public profiles only.
Metadata: protected resource, authorization server, server card.
Rules
- Accounts are for people. Bots, AI agents and other automated programs may not create accounts or sign in with a member’s password (terms of use, auth.md). They read in a member’s name only through the MCP connector the member allowed.
- Members decide what is public. A post or profile made private again disappears from this API at once. Do not keep copies of content that is no longer public.
- No search index. Public posts and profiles ask search engines not to list them. Please respect that when you store or republish their content.
- Go gently. Keep to about one request per second and name your tool and a contact address in the
User-Agentheader.
